Two Matching SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH PICTURE HOOK COVERS

For those new to this idea these picture hook covers were used to cover the nail or screw on the wall above a picture or frame. The wire or ribbon to hang a picture was seen above the picture or painting. To cover the nail these bronze or ormolu buttons were used to cover the nail on the wall. It is still an attractive idea and looks quite nice above a small painting or photograph hung on the wall.

Dating from the late 1800's these fabulous picture hook covers are in good condition.

Have a patina commensurate with age and use.

The reverse is fitted with a little sleeve which will slot straight over the picture hook adding that touch of French chic to any picture or mirror.

Two Matching Brass buttons which are thin brass.
Exactly the same but alternate right and left.
Because of the sizes I think they could be used to string on to a cord when pulling back curtains as well.
Measures 12 cm by 9 cm or 4 3/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
