One Large SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH BRASS PICTURE HOOK COVER

Religious theme of Mary with baby Jesus.

For those new to this idea these picture hook covers were used to cover the nail or screw on the wall above a picture or frame. The wire or ribbon to hang a picture was seen above the picture or painting. To cover the nail these bronze or ormolu buttons were used to cover the nail on the wall. It is still an attractive idea and looks quite nice above a small painting or photograph hung on the wall.

I am going to into this long explanation because it is something I have just recently learned so I will assume that I am not the only one new to this idea.

Dating from the late 1800's these fabulous picture hook covers are in good condition

This button is of light tin plate metal.

Have a patina commensurate with age and use

The reverse is fitted with a little sleeve which will slot straight over the picture hook adding that touch of French chic to any picture or mirror

This button is 14 cm by 10 cm approximately. Or in inches it is 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches approximately.
